Why Salt Lake City Feels Like Home

Taking in the morning sunshine and fresh Utah air!

Salt Lake City might be the place that finally feels right if you have been thinking about making a move. Whether you are relocating, buying, selling or building, life here has so much to offer. When my family and I moved from San Diego about five years ago, we did not expect to fall in love with Utah the way we did. Every time we visited before we moved, it felt like an adventure. There was always something to do and places to explore. Once we settled in, we realized how much this lifestyle fit our family.

One of the biggest reasons people move here is the access to the outdoors. Utah gives you year round activities that keep life fun. In the winter you can ski, snowboard and snowshoe. When the snow melts, you can hike, paddleboard, kayak, bike and golf. We loved the beach life in California, but Utah offers so much more variety. Even in the colder months you do not feel stuck inside because the recreation centers are amazing. Many have indoor pools, pickleball courts, basketball courts and even indoor tracks.

Many families tell me that life feels easier here and I completely understand why. Salt Lake City is one of the most family friendly places I have ever lived. The schools are strong and the neighborhoods feel safe and connected. My kids go to a charter school with small class sizes and a full time instructional assistant in every room. The programs are incredible and the community support is something we did not expect. If your kids love sports, this is a great place to be. Soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball and even ski teams are easy to find and well organized.

Something that surprised us when we moved here was how welcoming people are. Whether you are standing in line at the store or dropping off kids at school, people are kind and open. There are so many local events and celebrations like Swiss Days, Highland Fling and Alpine Days. It makes it easy to build friendships and feel like you belong.

Salt Lake City also has a strong job market. Tech continues to grow in Lehi, known as Silicon Slopes, and there are opportunities in construction, healthcare, education and many other fields. The low unemployment rate is a big reason so many people are moving here from out of state.

Utah also has a great arts and culture scene. You can enjoy the Utah Symphony, the Tabernacle Choir, local theater, concerts and festivals throughout the year. It gives you that big city feel without feeling overwhelming.

Even though home prices have risen, many people still feel like they get more here than they did in states like California or Colorado. Larger yards, more space inside and the ability to have a basement make daily life easier. The tax system is another bonus. Utah has a flat income tax of 4.55 percent and property taxes of about zero point five percent for primary homes. Over time this can make a big difference.

Salt Lake is known for being safe and clean. People take pride in keeping their neighborhoods and parks well cared for. It creates a calm and comfortable feeling when you are out and about.

Salt Lake City offers a lifestyle that feels balanced, healthy and full of possibility. It is a place where families thrive and newcomers feel welcome from day one. If you are thinking about relocating, buying, selling or building here, my team and I would love to help. Whether your move is next week, next month or next year, reach out by call, text or email.
