How Moving to Utah Could Change Your Life

A calm and beautiful fall day in Mapleton Utah.

If Utah has been on your mind lately, you are not alone. I talk with people all the time who feel pulled to this state and cannot quite explain why. I know the feeling well because a few years ago, my family and I were in the exact same place. We were curious, a little unsure and wondering if Utah could really be a good fit. Today I want to share how our move to Utah changed our lives and why it might be the right move for you too.

When we first bought property in Utah, we did not plan to live here. It was simply an investment. Then the pandemic happened and we decided to take a quick trip to see the area in person. We thought we would stay for a few days and then head back to California. That short visit turned into a moment where everything clicked. Utah felt peaceful and inviting and we knew right away that we wanted to stay. It became home faster than we ever expected.

One of the biggest gifts of living in Utah has been watching our kids enjoy a slower and sweeter way of life. They ride their bikes around the neighborhood. They play outside without us worrying. They run in and out of friends houses and leave scooters on the lawn without a second thought. As a former elementary school teacher, seeing our kids have the chance to truly be kids again has meant everything to me. Utah gives families space to breathe.

As a family of six, we are always looking for things to do together, and Utah makes it easy. We ski in the winter, hike in the spring and fall, and paddleboard or play pickleball in the summer. Even the simple moments at home feel special because the mountains are always right there in the background. There is always something active and fun waiting for us.

Our move to Utah also gave us a quiet reset. We were not running from anything. We loved our life in California. We had great schools, great weather and a great community. But we felt ready for something new. Starting over in a state where we did not know anyone was scary, but it also opened the door to amazing friendships and a lifestyle we never knew we needed. Utah has a way of bringing the right people into your life at the right time.

One of the best surprises has been experiencing all four seasons. Summer nights feel warm and endless. Fall hikes look like a painting. Winter brings skiing, snow days and cozy nights at home. Spring feels fresh and full of life. Each season has its own personality and our family has created so many memories because of it.

When it comes to food and healthy living, I was happily surprised. Utah has incredible farmers markets, amazing local bakeries, co-ops with fresh produce and plenty of places to shop for clean, whole foods. I remember wondering if I would find the same options I had in California, and the answer has been yes.

The space in Utah has also been a blessing. Many homes have basements that can be used as playrooms, guest rooms, gyms or storage. Our kids finally have a big backyard to play soccer, jump on the trampoline and run around. Having this space has changed the way our family spends time together.

So is Utah right for you. Maybe you want a slower pace. Maybe you want more space or better balance. Maybe you are just curious and want to explore your options. No matter where you are in the process, I am here to help.

I talk with people every week who are thinking about relocating to Utah and wondering if it will feel like home. I love those conversations because I have lived this journey myself. If you have questions or want to understand the lifestyle better, reach out anytime. Call me, text me or email me.

I hope you are having a wonderful day and maybe even considering a new beginning here in beautiful Utah.
